This superb set of high quality filters is ideal for Lunar and planetary observation, as well as web-cam and CCD imaging of bright targets.

This unit actually consists of two polarizing filters mounted in standard 1.25" filter holders. By attaching one filter to your star diagonal (or extension tube) and attaching the other filter to the eyepiece the image brightness can be attenuated simply by rotating the eyepiece.

The system is very much more convenient than rotating mount type polarising filters that required the eyepiece to be removed to effect an adjustment each time. Simply rotating the eyepiece you can achieve precise control of the transmission level (how much light the filter allows through to your eye or camera imaging chip) which means the unit functions much like a neutral density filter, except that the cross-polarizer effect can be precisely and easily adjusted to suit the observing situation (sky transparency, magnification etc). This set is perfect for viewing bright targets such as the Moon (to avoid being dazzled and missing faint detail)and planets. It's also very effective for observing double stars where one of the components of the binary or multiple system is very bright and close to the other components.

The filters are also very useful for controlling image brightness when webcam and CCD imaging.
